Vice Minister Niu Dun meets Russian First Deputy Minister Igor Manilov

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Mr. Igor Manilov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on July 1st, 2014 during time of the First China-Russia Exposition held in Harbin. The two discussed strengthening practical agricultural cooperation between China and Russia. 

At the meeting, Niu pointed out that agricultural cooperation between China and Russia has benefited from the strategic cooperative partnership and friendly political relationship between the two nations. Under bilateral mechanisms and multilateral frameworks such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), G20, WTO and FAO, China and Russia have conducted fruitful and pragmatic cooperation in agriculture.

 

The discussion between the two sides mainly focused on the preparation of the First Meeting of the China-Russia Subcommittee on Cooperation in Agriculture, collaborative projects like rabbit production chain development, agricultural investment and development in the border regions, and agricultural trade.

 

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to reinforce exchanges and cooperation on agriculture in the future. Under the guidance of the regular meeting mechanism between Chinese and Russian Prime Ministers, the two sides will make efforts to upgrade bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new height through the China-Russia Subcommittee on Cooperation in Agriculture. 

Mr.Niu Dun and Mr.Igor Manilov also attended and addressed the joint roundtable meeting on agricultural cooperation held during the time of the First China-Russia Exposition.Nearly 200 participants attended the meeting, representing governmental departments, agribusinesses and institutes from the two countries.
